Stephanie Keenan
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
Together, we can make a great town even better!
I am a hometown girl who joined the Navy and saw the world, but returned with my own family because I knew all the wonderful things that Little Silver has to offer. I was recently honored with an appointment to complete an unexpired term on the Borough Council, and in the current crisis it's been a whirlwind! I am running to remain on the council, because I believe that a variety of viewpoints is the key to developing a new normal that will best serve ALL of our residents
Biography
A Little Silver native, Stephanie graduated from both Markham Place and Red Bank Regional before attending MIT on a Navy ROTC scholarship. After college, she served as a Supply Corps Officer, both aboard ship and ashore. After leaving the service, she made a number of moves around the country, and the world as a military spouse. She earned a Master's from from William and Mary in Virginia, worked as a planning engineer (and had a baby) in Iceland, worked in an International School in Bahrain, and headed a Girl Scout Council in England. When her husband, Jim, retired after thirty years in the navy, the family returned to Little Silver where their daughter Beth was a proud second-generation Little Silver Warrior and Buc.
Stephanie is currently serving on the Borough Council, having been appointed to finish an unexpired term. Since returning to Little Silver, she has been engaged in many facets of town life. Working in the Borough Schools as a substitute teacher, volunteering for Environmental Commission projects, participating in Library events, and serving on the Board of Health have renewed the connection to her hometown.
Stephanie has also been active in the local Democratic Party. She is currently the Corresponding Secretary of the Democratic Committee, and serves on the finance committee for the Democratic Club. She was one of the party's candidates in the 2018 council race.
